A collection is a file directory which serves as a primary organizational tool for the maintenance of snippets.
To nominate a collection, the first task is to locate or create an appropriate file directory. Note, however, that creating a file directory is still an independent operation from the nomination.
Once the file directory has been identified, a name of the collection shall be chosen which is unique to all collections of the particular document type. This is how the software application will recognize the collection. If this is not provided, the software application will first try to use the directory name, without the full path, if such is a unique one. Otherwise, the nomination for a new collection will be rejected.
Changing the name of the collection does not involve the file directory name. It only changes the name the collection is known to the software application. The new name must still satisfy the uniqueness requirement of the name.
Unmounting the collection does not delete the associated file directory or any of its contents. It only removes the collection from the knowledge of the software application.
